The Hamilton Riven Paving Project
The Hamilton Riven Paving Project
We got an e:mail from the Thompson family. They had a problem with water saturation of the rear lawn. They also asked us if we could create more space for willie, to move around more freely on his wheelchair.
The first part of the project was to move the garden shed 10 feet back up the lawn well,Lined with 22" ply and its frame was built using 2" by 4" timber, it took the good part of a day to dismantle and carefully reassemble it in its new location.
The second task was to remove all the old slabs and take them to the local waste recycling centre. Then we removed Willie's ramp and adjusted it so it would fit back into position once the new Hamilton Riven paving was installed.
We then removed around 90 sq metres of the rear lawn and inserted a type 1 aggregate bed of 100mm thick to help with the saturation and it also formed the solid sub base for the Riven Paving to be placed on.
We also installed a new linear channel drainage system at the base of the house wall this was to help water to drain quickly when heavy rain occurs.
Now time for the Hamilton Riven Paving to be installed this was installed with the top of the paving perfectly level with the top of the linear channel drain to allow water to directly drain away into the nearest surface water drain.
This was one of the biggest domestic patios that clyde paving has done and the Thompson family were delighted with the outcome. A whopping scale of patio which has created lots of space for them to enjoy entertaining the family on warm summer nights and Willie isn't knocking them down in his wheelchair anymore ........... Cheers Willie and Alec for your steady supply of tea and coffee.
